PokeSurvivor evolution: upgrade the move, understand the rule.

PokeSurvivor evolution changes a qualifying move into its evolved attack. It is not a promise that your partner follows the main-series species chain. If your level-five attack still has no gold card, check the run stat, the move itself, and the next level-up in that order.

The PokeSurvivor evolution recipe

Learn a move that can evolve. Raise that move to level five and take its required stat card at least once during the same run. On a subsequent level-up, select the gold evolution card. The order of the move upgrades and stat card does not matter. PokeSurvivor evolution checks the current run’s choices; a permanent upgrade bought in the menu cannot fill that requirement.

First, check what actually evolves

In the checked version, 59 of the game’s 64 moves have an evolution. PokeSurvivor evolution is about those attacks: Ember becomes Fire Blast, for example. The evolved move keeps its type and occupies the same attack slot. Evolution happens once for that move.

Do not substitute a main-series Pokémon evolution chart. There is no verified rule here that a Bulbasaur automatically turns into Ivysaur at a familiar species level. The reliable PokeSurvivor evolution question is which move you currently own and what that move needs.

Choose a move your partner can learn

A partner normally learns Normal moves plus moves matching its own type. That affects which PokeSurvivor evolution recipes you can actually pursue.

Before planning a run, check the partner and the desired attack together. Learn the base move, keep track of its own level, and choose upgrades when they are offered.

PokeSurvivor evolution needs all three steps

Start a run from the main menu, then keep the conditions together inside that run. The player’s overall level is separate from the move’s upgrade level. PokeSurvivor evolution checks the move’s level and whether the relevant stat was selected during this attempt.

  • Raise the eligible move itself to Lv5; player level five is insufficient.
  • Take the matching run stat at least once, before or after reaching Lv5.
  • Gain another level-up and choose the gold evolution card.

Eight checked PokeSurvivor evolution examples

Every row below requires the base move at Lv5 plus at least one matching stat card during the run. These PokeSurvivor evolution examples were checked against the author’s move table and source on October 13, 2026. Use the exact stat name shown in the English game.

When a level-up opens, choose the offered card with 1–3 or by clicking it. Continue selecting your active move with 1–4, its icon, or Q/E. An evolved attack stays available through its existing slot; it keeps the normal active-move controls.

Permanent upgrades do not satisfy the recipe

Buying permanent Strength in the Upgrades menu is different from selecting Power during a run. PokeSurvivor evolution looks for the required run stat, not a similar-looking permanent benefit. Return to the actual card choices when diagnosing a missing evolution.

Five buff moves have no evolution: Swords Dance, Agility, Harden, Aqua Ring and Dragon Dance. A higher level or extra stat cannot create a missing recipe for them. PokeSurvivor evolution applies only to eligible moves; these buffs remain a separate part of your build.

PokeSurvivor evolution still missing at Lv5?

Check that the move can evolve, that the move itself is at Lv5, and that you selected the exact required stat during this run. Then collect enough experience for another upgrade choice. If several moves are ready, the source ensures at least one ready evolution is offered, not every ready evolution at once.

For practice, a guest session can help you learn the PokeSurvivor evolution sequence without an account. Remember that guest progress is not saved. The screens are references; the evolution conditions were checked in the source.

Questions before your next run

Does PokeSurvivor evolution happen automatically at Lv5?

No. The correct run stat must also have been selected, and you choose the evolution card during a later level-up. Reaching the move’s maximum level opens one prerequisite; it is not the entire recipe.

Can I take the stat before the move reaches Lv5?

Yes. PokeSurvivor evolution checks whether the required stat was taken during the run and whether the move is ready. Either order qualifies. Keep both conditions in the same run rather than relying on permanent menu upgrades.

Does the evolved attack change type or use another slot?

In the checked source, PokeSurvivor evolution changes the existing move instance while keeping its type and slot. The stronger attack remains selectable normally. It is not a new species unlock or a promise that the partner’s body will change.
